Newsademic Launches English American Edition

(PRWEB) September 26, 2006 -- Newsademic, the international newspaper for the younger reader, is now available in two versions. Subscribers can choose either British or American English. Each carries the same news stories but differs in writing style, punctuation and spelling.

Newsademic is carefully written and edited for children aged between 9 and 16. Its aim is to educate and inform them about current international news stories.

There are now over 4,600 Newsademic readers - ranging from Argentina to Fiji and Sweden to South Africa. These include 232 schools and educational establishments.

"We are delighted to broaden our appeal," said Susan Elkin, Newsademic's editor. "Since our launch at the beginning of the year we have had a lot of feedback from readers in the USA. Many said that an American English edition would be a good idea."

"Most of our subscribers - parents who take an active interest in their children's education, 'homeschoolers', schools who view current affairs as an important part of the curriculum and language schools who use Newsademic as an aid to teaching English as a foreign language -- live in countries where British English is the norm. So we hope that the new American English edition will make Newsademic more attractive to those in the USA and other countries who use American rather than British English" added Mrs Elkin.

Newsademic carries no advertising. Neither does it feature television, sport, computer games, pop music or celebrity culture. The focus is on international news events -- the ones which shape and affect the world that we all live in today.

Newsademic is distributed fortnightly as a PDF file by email. Although it can be read on screen it is designed to be printed out and read as a paper copy. Subscription rates are £20.00 and £36.00 for 26 and 52 issues respectively. Intranet licences for schools are also available.

Each issue also features a book, film, CD or DVD review and Glossary and Sudoku prize competitions.

Complimentary copies of both editions of the newspaper can be obtained from www.newsademic.com.
