Laser Link Rangefinders Deemed Conforming By The United States Golf Association The QuickShot Rangefinder and Red Hot Rangefinder from Laser Link Golf have been found to be conforming golf equipment by the United States Golf Association (USGA). They are allowed for use in both tournament play, and for posting a handicap score. Laser Link Golf is the only company who can say all of their products have been listed as conforming by the USGA. Madison, WI (PRWEB) August 25, 2010 It’s good news from the USGA for Laser Link Golf. In a letter dated August 9, 2010, Dick Rugge, USGA Senior Technical Director, states that both the QuickShot and Red Hot have “been evaluated and it has been determined that (they) conform to the Rules of Golf.” In the world of golf, conformity is the law, and companies that manufacture and/or sell non-conforming products are committing the ultimate sin. Also extremely important is manufacturing equipment that is obviously conforming to golfers, as we’ve witnessed with the recent disqualifications over the orientation of grooves on wedges. Laser Link Golf has always worked closely with the USGA to make sure their products were falling under the Rules of Golf. “This was really just confirmation of a fact we already knew, and we anticipated receiving conforming status,” said Rob O’Loughlin, president of Laser Link Golf. “It is clearly stated by the USGA that electronic measuring devices (EMD’s) must measure distance only, and all of our products are designed this way.” As many golfers already know, in order to conform to the Rules, an EMD must have one capability, and that is to measure distance only. The product cannot measure other factors (e.g. slope, temperature, wind direction and speed, etc) or offer advice as to the course of play, such as which club to hit. Laser rangefinders or GPS units that offer any of this other information are not allowed for tournament play, and are also not allowed for use when posting a handicap score. “We submitted our rangefinders because we wanted there to be no doubt in a user’s mind that our products are conforming,” said O’Loughlin. “To our knowledge, we are the only company that has submitted our products and gained conforming status, and we are the only company that can claim that all of our products conform to the Rules of Golf.” About Laser Link Golf Laser Link Golf is the producer of the Laser Link Distance System, the revolutionary distance measurement system designed specifically for golf. The laser-based system utilizes two components – a handheld laser rangefinder and a flagstick-based reflector – to determine the exact distance to the flagstick. Laser Link Golf products include the popular QuickShot™ rangefinder, the Red Hot rangefinder, the SmartStick™ reflector system, and the Smarty™ flagstick reflector. The System is designed to speed up play and add enjoyment to the game. It is in use at more than 2,500 private clubs around the country, and several more daily fee courses. New this year is the CartLink System – the affordable cart-mounted GPS alternative that golf courses can install without breaking the budget. Laser Link Golf is based in Madison, WI, and is owned and operated by many of the same individuals that started SoftSpikes®. They are involved in Laser Link Golf for the same reason they got involved in SoftSpikes® – both are good for the game! http://www.laserlinkgolf.com ###
