Daniel Phillips Wins the First APAT Live Event and Becomes the English Amateur Poker Champion

APAT, the world's first combined poker association and tour, held its first live event on 23rd-24th September.

LONDON (PRWEB) September 27, 2006 -- The Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) sponsored by PokerStars.com and Poker Player magazine, held its first live event, the English Amateur Poker Championship at the Broadway Casino in Birmingham on September 23rd-24th. The competition was won by Daniel Phillips from Tamworth who wins a significant cash prize, an expenses paid trip and entry into the EPT Copenhagen event in January 2007, an engraved Championship trophy and the APAT winners gold medal. The event was substantially oversubscribed and 120 runners sat down to compete for the title. Players began with 10,000 starting chips and a structure designed to encourage creative play throughout the competition.
