Texas Wind Energy Institute Will Host Best Practices In Wind Energy Conference

The conference is designed to provide attendees with up-to-date information on the state of the wind energy industry in Texas and around the globe.

Lubbock, TX (Vocus) September 2, 2010

The Texas Wind Energy Institute will host The Best Practices in Wind Energy: Pathways to Developing a Sustainable Workforce conference on Sept. 8-9 at the Omni Hotel in downtown Austin. Influential stakeholders from the technical, educational, and legislative sectors of the wind energy industry plan to meet and discuss best practices in wind energy.

The two-day agenda will focus on the state of the wind energy industry in Texas and around the globe. Topics include a discussion of new approaches to wind energy education and career pathways for employment in the wind energy industry.

"Texas is the top producer of wind energy in the nation," said Dr. Patrick Hughes, assistant dean of University College at Texas Tech University. "The Institute is working to provide a knowledgeable and skilled workforce to meet increasing demands."

Speakers will include John D. White, Managing Director of The Wind Alliance; Jerry Patterson, Texas Land Commissioner, and E. Ian Baring-Gould, Senior Research Supervisor at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

The Texas Wind Energy Institute (TWEI) is a partnership between Texas State Technical College and Texas Tech University.
