Drinking Beer Is Wrong According To ChristiaNet Poll

Drinking beer, wine, liquor or an alcoholic beverage of any kind is wrong according to http://christianblogs.christianet.com/.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) September 28, 2006 -- ChristiaNet.com (http://www.christianet.com), the world's largest Christian portal with twelve million monthly page loads, asked reader's to participate in a survey that asks, "Should Christians drink beer? The majority of 197 out of 339 respondents felt that it isn't appropriate behavior for several reasons. One person said, "Alcohol takes control of a person's body and does not honor God's temple." Respondents seemed to agree overall that drinking beer, wine, liquor, or an alcoholic beverage of any kind is wrong. One participant made a good point about excessive drinking contributing to car accidents and domestic violence.

Eighty persons who participated in the poll seemed to think it is okay for Christians to drink beer. The overall consensus with this group makes the distinction that it should be done in moderation and not to get drunk. One person made the point, "It's acceptable unless abused or causes someone else to sin." So many that answered yes also made the distinction that it should be done sensibly, perhaps in the privacy of one's home with a spouse or in the company of other mature Christians who act responsibly.

Sixty-two respondents were unsure on the issue. One person stated, "All things are permissible yet not all things are beneficial." While an occasional drink might have some health benefits, too much can cause health problems. The risk of becoming addicted to it should be considered by those who are tempted. Each person should examine themselves and determine if they are susceptible. When intoxication takes hold it is easier to do things one wouldn't normally do and could make it much easier to sin.

A few participants related their answer to the first miracle of Jesus when he turned the water into wine. Jesus did this for a wedding celebration, to keep the wedding guests happy. One person made the statement, "It is a personal decision. The Bible is clear about not being drunk, but doesn't prohibit drinking alcoholic beverages." For God's children, everything in life should be measured by His word and seeking answers through prayer. God's children should not indulge in something that takes control of them but instead let Him be in control by exhibiting the Fruits of the Spirit.
