Rasmussen College Hosts First Academic Colloquium

College brings together faculty from around the state of Florida and beyond to discuss academic issues for students in the classroom and online

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) August 30, 2010

Rasmussen College brought together more than 150 faculty members from its four Florida campuses and its online programs for the first ever academic colloquium on Saturday, August 28 in Tampa, Fla. Academic professionals at Rasmussen College came together to discuss trends in higher education, including student learning outcomes and the value in online education.

Faculty and academic professionals such as librarians, academic deans, learning center coordinators, and directors from the schools of Nursing, Business, Technology and Design, Justice Studies, Allied Health, and Education came together to focus on creating an outstanding, cohesive student learning experience.

“We had faculty members from all over Florida and from far away as Washington state attending this colloquium,” Rasmussen College Vice President of Academic Affairs Carie Ann Potenza said. “Our goal was to bring together academic professionals from different disciplines and varying career fields in order to create a strong dialogue that will ultimately create a dynamic learning experience for our student.”

In addition to this face-to-face meeting, the academic colloquium will be supplemented with a four module, two-week long, facilitated online course. This is just one component of the professional development opportunities that Rasmussen College makes available to its faculty and staff.

“Our primary focus is on the success of our students,” Potenza said. “We want to create the ultimate teaching experience for our faculty so that they, in turn, can create the ultimate learning experience for our students.”

The next colloquium will take place September 21 in Bismarck, N. D. To learn more about Rasmussen College, visit http://www.Rasmussen.edu.
