(PRWEB) October 6, 2006 -- Pricing on HDTV plasma, LCD and DLP televisions continue to fall as more are being produced and sold. A decent 42" plasma HDTV set a year ago sold for $4000 and now goes for about 50% of that price. With the football season under way and more stations offering games in High Definition, now is a great time to purchase a high definition television set.

When shopping for the right high definition television, there are several different options of the types of televisions you can get in HD including tube TVs, LCDs, LCD projections, DLP projection TVs (http://www.abtelectronics.com/category/805.html) and plasma TVs (http://www.abtelectronics.com/category/461.html).

High-Definition Television (HDTV) provides a digital picture of greater clarity and richer sound than the analog signals that have been broadcast for decades. HDTV is available in all forms of broadcast including an over the air (with an antenna), cable television and satellite TV.

All major networks that show NFL games are broadcasting in HDTV including Fox, CBS, NBC, ESPN-HD and the NFL Network. A total of 13 high definition NFL games are being presented through the NFL Sunday ticket package on DIRECTV.

Monday night football - ESPN (HD and digital surround sound)

"Football in particular is very well suited for high definition, says Marc Cook, A/V manager for Abt Electronic's retail store. "Since an HDTV broadcast is in the widescreen format (16:9), the linear design of a football field (being wide) really pops on an HDTV. The quick motion of almost all sports really shines on these new sets."

Major College Football games appearing on network TVs are also being made available in HDTV on ESPN-HD, ESPN2-HD, ABC, NBC and HDNet.
