Red Bull Flugtag: On the Wings of Glory is a 5-part television event that follows six Red Bull Flugtag teams from across the U.S. as they create, build and pilot homemade flying machines at one of the four events this summer (Miami, Twin Cities, Long Beach and Philadelphia). Viewers will witness the behind-the-scenes drama, successes, mistakes and hilarity that happens along the way as these six brave teams spread their wings in search of human-powered flight.

What: Red Bull Flugtag: On the Wings of Glory is a 5-part television event that follows six Red Bull Flugtag teams from across the U.S. as they create, build and pilot homemade flying machines at one of the four events this summer (Miami, Twin Cities, Long Beach and Philadelphia). Viewers will witness the behind-the-scenes drama, successes, mistakes and hilarity that happens along the way as these six brave teams spread their wings in search of human-powered flight.

In each of the episodes, the host, Bert Kreischer, will guide viewers through each of the team’s build process, and in turn, becomes inspired to take on human-powered flight himself. Bert will launch his own flying machine at Red Bull Flugtag Philadelphia on September 4th, 2010.

When: Red Bull Flugtag: On the Wings of Glory will air nationally on Sundays on Fox Sports Net (FSN) regional sports networks and its affiliates beginning September 5th after local baseball.

Background: Red Bull Flugtag (which means “flying day” in German) is a competition that challenges everyday engineers to build homemade flying machines and pilot them off a 30-foot high deck in hopes of human-powered flight before ultimately splashing into the waters below. Teams are judged not only on flight distance, but on creativity and showmanship as well.

Red Bull Flugtag began in 1991 in Vienna, Austria. Since then, there have been more than 80 Flugtags around the world, attracting more than 300,000 spectators to a single event! This year, there were four Red Bull Flugtags in the U.S including Miami (July 10), Twin Cities (July 24), Long Beach (August 21), Philadelphia (September 4). This summer, Major Trouble and the Dirty Dixies set a new international Flugtag flight record was set at Red Bull Flugtag Twin Cities with a 207-foot flight.
