Pontiac, MI (PRWEB) August 31, 2010

Automated Pet Care Products, Inc., the maker of the Litter-Robotâ„¢, the only automated, self-cleaning litter box product made in the U.S., has responded to an urgent plea for donations to support the animals suffering from the mounting devastation caused by the BP Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and has donated $5000 to the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) to help the animals impacted by this disaster.

The explosion of the Transocean Deepwater Horizon rig on April 20 that led to the BP oil spill has resulted in not only the largest oil spill ever in the U.S., but also the worst environmental disaster in American history. The spill is threatening coastal Louisiana wildlife, Gulf Coast fisheries and the Gulf of Mexico ecosystems and the NWF has been on the front lines helping to deploy the resources needed to restore vulnerable nesting and breeding grounds for wildlife on the Gulf Coast.

According to experts, it may take years - if not decades for the Gulf Coast area to recover. As dead, oil-coated birds, sea turtles, dolphins and other wildlife have already washed ashore, the Gulf's marshes, beaches and coastal water, which nurture a vast array of sea life could also die off over months or years.

Pledging its commitment to corporate social responsibility, Automated Pet Care Products has donated a portion of its profits of sales from the month of July to the NWF to support and protect wildlife and wild places impacted by the BP oil spill disaster.

"We are a small company, but we knew it was important that we do our part to help the devastation caused by the oil spill," says Brad Baxter, President of Automated Pet Care Products. "Both people and wildlife will suffer for a long time from this tragedy and it is important that we inspire Americans to protect wildlife for future generations."
