(PRWEB) October 12, 2006 -- KDHX Community Media Center, Cinema St. Louis, and the True/False Film Festival have teamed up for the Gimme Truth Video Competition, an opportunity for St. Louis area filmmakers to produce 2-minute videos that are either 100% true or 100% false.
Submissions are due to KDHX's offices by October 30, 2006. Afterwards, the finalists will screen and compete for cash and prizes on November 12, 2006 in a program presented at the St. Louis International Film Festival, hosted by FOX 2 Anchor John Pertzborn, and judged by visiting directors/filmmakers that include Terry Zwigoff (Ghost World, Crumb, Art School Confidential) and Sarah Kelly (The Lather Effect, Full Tilt Boogie).
For submissions to be considered for competition, they must meet the following requirements:
1) Entries must be 2 minutes or less in length.
2) Entries must be portraits of individuals (real or fictional) who live in St. Louis City or County.
3) Entries must be 100% true or 100% false. This rule is absolute.
4) Entries can be shot in any format, but should be submitted on MiniDV or DVD.
5) Entries should be received (not postmarked) at KDHX's offices by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2006. KDHX's offices are located at 625 N. Euclid, Ste. 100, St. Louis, MO, 63108.
All submitted videos will be viewed by a Pre-screening Committee. The finalists selected will screen at The Tivoli Theater on November 12, 2006 and participate in the game show portion of the Gimme Truth Video Competition.
The contestants in the game show are national and international filmmakers, visiting St. Louis for the St. Louis International Film Festival. During the show, the contestants compete against one another as they try to guess which videos are True and which are False. As the contestants guess, they act as judges also, picking their favorite videos from among the finalists.
Entries will be judged on their execution, creativity, and how well they fool the contestants. KDHX TV encourages True entries that boggle the mind and introduce the audience to local characters that are clearly stranger than fiction. False entries, on the other hand, are encouraged to test the audiences assumptions about what makes true video.
Finalists will be awarded prizes. Additionally, the winning videos will receive cash and prize packages.
