The relationship between board stiffness and crease recovery (spring back) is an important factor in the performance of cartons during erection and closure.

The new Crease and Board Stiffness Tester is particularly well engineered and robustly constructed resulting in a machine that will give long and reliable service.

This dual-purpose machine determines both board and crease stiffness in the range of 0-399gf (0 to 3.91 N). The instrument accords with BS 6965 and the technique used give results that are familiar to carton board manufacturers, converters and carton users.

Board stiffness is determined by bending a 50mm (2 in.) length of board through a 15° angle.

Crease recovery is determined by holding a formed crease at 90° and measuring the recovery force after 15 seconds.

The new instrument is extremely straightforward to operate and requires only basic skill and little technical knowledge in use. This, together with the digital display, limits the possibility of human error. Data acquisition and management is possible using the inbuilt RS232 connection.

The package includes the special precision sample cutter needed to prepare the accurate specimens for both test procedures. Also supplied is a simple to use, certified deadweight mass that allows the user to confirm the continued good accuracy of the machine at any time. All items are CE marked.
