High Tech Barbecue Meets Classic Style Ole Hickory Pits introduces its “Legend” signature series for its cutting edge Convecture Tri Oven commercial barbecue smokers Cape Girardeau, MO (PRWEB) October 7, 2006 -- If you’ve ever gazed at the elegant beauty of the luxury limousines Hollywood made popular in the 1930s, with their high-gloss black finish trimmed in polished stainless steel and chrome, you would easily admit they were in stark contrast to the flat black wrought iron from the blacksmith shop used in vehicles of the previous era.
Reminiscent of that classic style, Ole Hickory Pits introduces its “Legend” signature series for its cutting edge Convecture Tri Oven smokers, which feature a patented state-of-the-art design.
“The Legend” moniker refers to owner and designer David Knight’s friend, Mike Mills. Mills, a barbecue superstar and author, has enjoyed unparalleled success on the barbecue contest circuit for many years and is the owner of 17th Street Bar & Grill in Murphysboro, Ill., and Memphis Championship Barbecue in Las Vegas, Nev.
Over time, Mills prodded Knight to build a compact, reasonably priced smoker that could be used at home as well as in commercial applications and barbecue contests.
Knight created the original Convecture Tri Oven design, using his 30 years of expertise in building barbecue equipment. Since its original introduction, the patented design found immediate success in all three applications, commercial, residential and competition cooking.
However, Mills insisted the unique design still looked too modern, too institutional - that it abandoned its traditional barbecue roots.
Back at the drawing board, Knight departed from the all stainless steel exterior associated with modern cooking equipment and substituted a high-gloss black finish, trimming the grill in stainless steel and chrome – just like the classic limos of yesteryear.
Now, with its completion and signature stamp of approval from Mills, Ole Hickory Pits is introducing the new black “Legend” design to the public.
