Detroit Physician Group Launches Healthcare Data Exchange; Wayne State University Physician Group Selects Orion Health for Data Integration Wayne State University Physician Group has selected the Orion Health Rhapsody Integration Engine to help create an exchange of clinical and demographic data between hospitals, medical centers and their own offices. Santa Monica, CA (Vocus) September 8, 2010 Wayne State University Physician Group, a non-profit, multi-specialty physician practice group which operates over 100 medical practices and provides primary and specialty medical services to more than 670,000 patients annually throughout Detroit, Michigan, has selected the Orion Health Rhapsody Integration Engine to help create an exchange of clinical and demographic data between hospitals, medical centers and their own offices. Like most large, integrated health care facilities, Wayne State University Physician Group needed an easier way to collect and manage patient data independent of their existing facility-based information system and electronic health record (EHR). Previously, single point-to-point data collection occurred at disparate locations, where now with the Rhapsody Integration Engine, complete data can be shared throughout their facilities. Kenneth P. Lee, Wayne State University Physician Group’s Executive Director, commented, “We are an independent physician group with a strong dedication to patient care, research and education. By partnering with hospitals and other health organizations, patients can access a wide range of services and specialists. When physicians have immediate access to the patient’s entire health record, we’re able to provide the highest quality patient care experience possible. “The application has been operational for three months, and we have been completely satisfied with the product and support that Orion Health has provided,” continued Lee. Orion Health President of North America, Paul Viskovich, says the challenge of integrating patient data across a physicians group is often similar to those of a health information exchange (HIE). ”For Wayne State University Physician Group, we understood their need to pull together disparate systems and unique workflows similar to those of HIEs we have worked with. We also wanted to streamline the data management process to lessen the burden on the IT department, and allow them the flexibility to extend the Rhapsody platform to accomplish other data integration tasks,” Mr. Viskovich concluded. Orion Health solutions use standards-based technology to integrate data within a facility and external partners without incurring costly rip and replace approaches. Currently the company helps facilities and healthcare communities that connect 35 million patients with hundreds of thousands of active users. About Orion Health™ Rhapsody® Integration Engine
