What Mark Foley and Donald Rumsfeld Have in Common Humor gets outfitted for a kamikaze combat mission with the release of “The Rumsfeld Diaries Political Action Pak.” Its goal? Give Americans the information and tools they need in as entertaining a way as possible so the tides of public opinion make their final shift, and U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld gets his “Political Liability” walking papers once and for all. Gilford, NH (PRWEB) October 17, 2006 -- With midterm elections just one month away, the current media focus has shifted from the issues surrounding the War in Iraq to the scandal involving Congressman Mark Foley, and one businessman is working to get the focus back to a topic close to his heart.
"The Foley thing, it's a terrible situation for everyone involved," said Allen Voivod, creator of "The Rumsfeld Diaries Political Action Pak" (www.RumsfeldDiaries.com) and a fake news expert who became an unlikely activist. "But my biggest fear is that the sex scandal will consume the media and distract them from other issues of importance to the upcoming election."
Not one to complain without acting, Voivod has launched a comparison of Foley and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld on the popular online video service YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQwd6GLJOFo), explaining three things Foley and Rumsfeld have in common.
"We definitely have strong opinions about what's really important," Voivod said. "But because we started out writing for a comedic fake news website (www.DeadBrain.com), we can't help but try to be funny about the whole thing, and we hope that comes through in the video."
Now that Foley's resigned, Voivod hopes that the national dialogue will return to other issues. "As citizens, we all have different ideas about which way the country should be going, and how best to get there. With 'The Rumsfeld Diaries' and everything we've created around it, including the blog (www.RumsfeldDiaries.com/blog), we hope to add to that dialogue, and also get people to laugh in the process."
