A Great Time Was Had by All. Thanks to everyone who made this year's Barktober Fest 5 Mile Run and Walk for the Animals a great event. We could not have done it without our sponsors and all the walkers and runners. This year we had about 125 runners, over 420 walkers registered, hundreds of others that came to enjoy the fun and collected over $65,000 in sponsor donation money. The day started with cool, but sunny weather for our 5 Mile run. The new course was well received and was run by participants ranging in age from 12 to 77. Congratulations to our top finishers: first place overall winner Tom Regan from Victor, second place overall Kevin Sheehan from Rochester, and third place overall Aaron Pomerleau from Webster. A great big thanks to all the "Tail Waggin' Teams" that participated this year. Over 30 teams joined in on the fun. Congratulations to the Lake Ontario Parrot Head Club team for collecting the most sponsor money. Sandi Parker of Lake Ontario Parrot Head Club team collected the most sponsor donations. The day was full of great fun for everyone, from the costume contest winning "Angel" to those that participated in our new "musical sit" contest.

The crowd enjoyed watching all the dogs that came in a variety of costumes to strut their stuff, some home made and very clever and some store bought and darned cute. The vendors were busy selling a variety of wares and services and many dogs enjoyed being primped at our Doggie Day Spa. Some dogs also enjoyed honing their agility skills or checking out the obstacles for the first time. Our youngest walkers had plenty to keep them occupied also. Children sported face painting and also had fun painting pumpkins to take home with them. Many thanks to our band for providing entertainment and to board member Kristen Miranda for helping out with starting our walk off, announcing our race awards.
