Television Premiere Showcases Computer Arts, Animation, and Industrial Design Students at the Academy of Art University

“Fine Line on Design” is a television show which chronicles the future’s brightest design innovators at San Francisco’s Academy of Art University as they prepare for the Spring Showcase, the most highly anticipated event of the year.

At 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3rd, “Fine Line on Design” premiered on KTVU Channel 2 (HD). The show chronicled the future’s brightest design innovators at San Francisco’s Academy of Art University as they prepared for the Spring Showcase, the most highly anticipated event of the year.

The annual event displays a wide array of projects from industrial design and computer arts students while drawing a large number of top brass from leading industry companies such as Microsoft and Electronic Arts. Cameras captured every minute as students anxiously awaited verdicts on their future - portfolios were reviewed, business cards swapped, and dream job offers made on the spot. Most importantly, viewers got the inside scoop on what recruiters from the world’s top animation and gaming companies are looking for when they hire.

Those who tuned in also heard from members of the University’s inspiring faculty such as Tom Matano, former designer at Mazda and head of the Industrial Design School, and famed actress Diane Baker, director of the Acting School.

Also featured is University President Elisa Stephens, whose grandfather founded the Academy of Art University in 1929. President Stephen’s father, former President Richard A. Stephens, displayed his collection of rare vintage cars, giving viewers and students alike some insight towards the historical aspect of industrial design.

The premiere was presented entirely in High Definition on KTVU’s HD, giving home viewers a chance to see the work of top designer’s in a format that matches the Academy’s cutting-edge philosophy.
