Local Pet Sitter Attends Pet Sitters International 12th Annual Convention in Phoenix, Arizona

Jordan Kaplan of Petaholics was one of more than 250 professional pet sitters and industry supporters in attendance for Pet Sitters International’s 12th Annual Quest For Excellence Convention held September 28-October 1 in Phoenix, Arizona. Considered by many to be the professional pet-sitting industry’s premier convention, Quest welcomed PSI members from 39 states and Canada to the Radisson Fort Mcdowell Resort and Casino.

(PRWEB) October 12, 2006 -- Jordan Kaplan of Petaholics was one of more than 250 professional pet sitters and industry supporters in attendance for Pet Sitters International’s 12th Annual Quest For Excellence Convention held September 28-October 1 in Phoenix, Arizona. Considered by many to be the professional pet-sitting industry’s premier convention, Quest welcomed PSI members from 39 states and Canada to the Radisson Fort Mcdowell Resort and Casino.

For the past 12 years the convention has attracted PSI members to its event for one reason above all -- education. This year‘s sessions included presentations from Thom Somes, president, Pet Tech Inc: Jill Morstad PhD, owner/president, Prairie Skies Incorporated, Colleeen Tomes, operations director, PETS 911, Jennifer Shyrock, vice president, U.S. Operations, Doggone Safe: Tracie Hotchner, author of the Dog Bible. Bill Foster, author and pet-sitting pioneer, Jeanne Hertzog, attorney and professional pet sitter: Beth Adelman, certified feline behavior consultant: Janet Marlow, creator of Relaxation Music for Pets and Jerry England, president Lone-Wuff defense.

Mr. Kaplan took part in the following sessions:

-Subtle Signs of Dog Behavior and Body Language: Certified dog behavior consultant Jennifer Shyrock provided valuable insight into some of the subtle clues dogs offer and how to encounter dogs in various circumstances.

Pet First Aid: Pet Tech Inc. coached professional pet sitters on CPR, rescue breathing, choking management and other important pet-first aid techniques.

-Animal Law 101: Jeanne Hertzog addressed hot legal issue regarding animals, including animal cruelty, dog bite law, breed banning, leash laws and exotic animal issues.

Mr. Kaplan also participated in PSI’S annual Quest charity auction, which raised $20,000 to benefit the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary of Kanab, Utah and Noah’s wish, which is dedicated to rescuing and sheltering animals in disaster situations.
