Those assembled will then join a candlelit parade down to the Annapolis waterfront to ceremonially dump tea into the harbor. Annapolis, MD (PRWEB) October 15, 2006 -- Alchemy Tea & Trading, the nation's largest all organic tea shop, will hold its First Annual "Peggy Stewart Party" on Thursday, October 19th, 2006 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This event honors the Annapolis Tea Party of October 1774, when Anthony Stewart, owner of the brig, Peggy Stewart, arrived back to Annapolis with a cargo that included many thousands of pounds of tea. Many Annapolitans were very angry that Stewart still planned to sell tea when the British were charging very high taxes. When given the ultimatum of getting rid of the tea or being lynched by his neighbors, on October 19, 1774, Stewart returned to the City Dock and set fire to the ship himself.
Alchemy Tea & Trading's Peggy Stewart party will include tea tastings and snacks, along with a debut of Alchemy's newest tea, "Burning Ship" blend, designed and created exclusively for this event. At 8:00 p.m., party guests will embark on a candlelit walk to the Annapolis City Dock where a ceremonial tea dumping will occur.
