“How did the Midwest Healthcare BI Summit come to fruition?”
L. Madsen: It was really out of frustration. I had been searching for industry-specific content in BI and DW and I was unsuccessful. I thought, ‘well, there’s a gap here’. While it’s true that BI/DW is a mature industry both Healthcare Payers and Providers are relatively new to the party. Delivering Healthcare BI is fundamentally different than delivering BI to other industries; that difference warrants an educational event all its own.

“How does the 2010 Summit differ from 2009?”
L. Madsen: Last year we focused on operational considerations for healthcare organizations. Our speakers had a myriad of different experiences and as a result the content, while very good, didn’t have a consistent theme. This year we really decided to focus on healthcare experience and expertise. Every one of our speakers comes with a very impressive pedigree of healthcare experience. Then you add the fact that most of them have been doing BI/DW for many years, and the result is some of the most experienced healthcare BI professions in the industry, all in one room.
