Envato Marketplaces Reach 500,000 Members

Popular Envato marketplaces reach combined membership of half a million members.

Today the popular Envato marketplace network (ActiveDen, ThemeForest, CodeCanyon, AudioJungle, 3dOcean, VideoHive, GraphicRiver and the Tuts+ Marketplace) reached a considerable milestone of a combined membership of 500,000 members around the world, more than double its membership of just one year ago.

The sites have steadily attracted creative professionals and newcomers wanting to buy or wanting to sell stock files since the first marketplace ActiveDen launched in 2006. Each passing year has seen additional marketplaces added, most recently CodeCanyon, 3DOcean and the Tuts+ Marketplace for selling scripts and snippets, 3D components and models, and tutorials and ebooks, respectively.

"The big draw of the Envato Marketplaces is not just the immense selection of files for sale" said Envato co-founder Collis Ta'eed, "but also the community-driven environment where members connect, earn, buy and learn."

The news comes after a recent increase of author commission rates to 50-70% of each sale (up from 40%). This recent adjustment to the rates has also made reaching the 70% commission level far more attainable for all authors on the network, by reducing the total sales volume needed for authors to reach the 70% commission rate by more than $200,000. The change, which bumps up virtually all sellers on the marketplaces was much lauded by members.
