Veterans' Day Golf Tournament Being Held for Children of Fallen Special Operations Personnel

Tampa-based charity, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and Military Families Lifestyle Charitable Foundation, Inc. are hosting its Inaugural Tampa Bay Veterans' Day Golf Tournament November 9 at East Lake Woodlands Country Club, Oldsmar, Fla., to raise money for some very special children -- surviving children of Special Operations personnel who were killed during combat or training mission.

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) October 27, 2006 -- The Special Operations Warrior Foundation and Military Families Lifestyle Charitable Foundation, Inc. are hosting its Inaugural Tampa Bay Veterans' Day Golf Tournament November 9 at East Lake Woodlands Country Club, Oldsmar, Fla., to raise money for some very special children -- surviving children of Special Operations personnel who were killed during combat or training mission.

Some 62,000 Special Operations Forces -- including Navy SEALs, Army Special Forces and Rangers, Marine Corps Force Recon, and Air Force special operations personnel -- are conducting more missions, in more places, than ever before.

Since the tragic day of September 11, five years ago, 222 Special Operations members have lost their lives fighting the war on terrorism leaving behind 280 children, bringing the total number of children in the Special Operations Warrior Foundation program to 670.

The Warrior Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Tampa, Fla., provides education counseling and full college scholarship grants, not loans, for children of special operations forces who died in combat or training. The money raised at the golf tournament will provide tuition, books, fees, room and board. Currently the Warrior Foundation has 120 students in colleges and universities across the country.

"It is important to remind our military that their community supports their efforts," said John T. Carney, Jr., SOWF President. "In the case of the special operations community, if they lose their lives fighting for our freedom, they know the Warrior Foundation is here to provide for their children's education."

The golf tournament includes a full day of special events, including a special opening ceremony in honor of Veterans' Day. The tournament will begin with a 12:30 pm shotgun start. Cost of entry is $300 per person. The fees include one round of golf, golf cart, lunch, drinks, prizes and a full dinner banquet.
