parvus Offers DZUS Rail-Mount Enclosures, Enabling PC/104 and EBX Embedded Systems To Meet Mounting Standard MS25212

SALT LAKE CITY - September 19, 2002 - parvus Corporation announced its ZS Series of rugged aluminum enclosures, which enable PC/104 and EBX computer applications to conform with military/aviation mounting standard MS25212. Unit pricing starts at $525.

parvus' ZS enclosures integrate Dzus(r) Fastener Quarter-Turn studs to enable dependable rail/rack mounting within a standard 5.0" width rack. Commonly used in aircraft access panels, "Zeus" slide/push action fasteners provide exceptional vibration endurance, high strength fastening, and resistance to accidental opening. The containers' mounting plate dimensions and fastener locations are in full accordance with Military Specification MS25212.

Two height (5.3" or 6.6") and three length (6.0", 8.0", or 10.0") options are available for the ZS series to accommodate either PC/104 or EBX (Embedded Board, eXpandable) circuit boards. PC/104 modules can be packaged inside the extrusion using a PC/104 Railed Card Cage isolated against harmful shock and vibration energies with Silastic (r) ZS Shock Rocks attached to the card cage. Boards of the EBX form factor (5.75" x 8.0") can be shock mounted inside the enclosure chassis using Silastic standoff-spacers called Bumper Beans, which are also available from parvus.

The ZS series is the only enclosure specifically designed for PC/104 boards to utilize the Quarter-Turn Dzus Fastener rail system. Avionics electronics packages can now take advantage of the small, rugged, PC/104 footprint and gain full PC/AT functionality. Overall system cost and development time for avionics electronics that have traditionally relied on VMEbus architecture can now be reduced by leveraging Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) PC/104 hardware and PC-compatible software.
