Mr. Bush Why Can't We Be Friends, Sings New Zealand Songwriter Kiwi Singer Songwriter Luigi Cappel has just released a song asking President Bush why the United States won't re-establish official Friend Status with New Zealand. Ever since the New Zealand government banned nuclear powered and armed ships the US Government banned New Zealand from military exercises despite the ANZUS Treaty and has denied New Zealand a Free Trade Agreement. (PRWEB) November 1, 2006 -- Auckland Songwriter Luigi Cappel has just released a song called 'Mr. Bush Why Can't we Be Friends' as a personal protest about the fact that the United States Government does not officially accord New Zealand with the Status of Friends.
Cappel said that he felt it was ludicrous that almost 20 years after the New Zealand government banned nuclear powered and armed ships from our waters that the United States still sees New Zealand as naughty children that need to be taught a lesson. The chorus lyrics state:
Mr. Bush I'm asking why we can't be friends It's our environment we were trying to defend Our men fought along with yours on a dozen foreign shores Your logic I just fail to comprehend.
The song comes out two weeks after 17 members of the New Zealand Defence force were presented with US medals for service during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Cappel said, "My friends in the States can't believe that we don't have closer ties including free trade agreements with America and have been very quick to say that they don't share their government's point of view."
The song has been posted and promoted on a number of websites including, Music Forte and the Podsafe Music Network used by podcasters all over the world looking for music that has been approved for use on podcasts.
