Adam Wilcox and Phil Burton Confirm They Step Up to the GT3 Class for the 2007 Avon Tyres British GT Championship Season

Adam Wilcox and Phil Burton have confirmed that they will make the step up to the GT3 class for the 2007 Avon Tyres British GT Championship season.

(PRWEB) November 2, 2006 -- Adam Wilcox and Phil Burton have confirmed that they will make the step up to the GT3 class for the 2007 Avon Tyres British GT Championship season.

The duo, who campaigned the JMH Ferrari 360 during 2006, will stick with the Italian marque for the new season with a Ferrari F430 – the same model of car used by Allan Simonsen and Hector Lester to claim the first ever win in the FIA GT3 European Championship earlier this year.

Although there has been no confirmation yet on whether or not the GT2 class will be run in the British series again next year, the GT3 class is likely to be the main focus of attention with a number of teams set to join those who campaigned the new specification cars last year and Wilcox said he and Burton were looking to be front-runners with their new car.

"The GT3 class will be the premier class in 2007, and the winner will become the overall British GT champion [if there is no GT2 class," he said. "I think with what we have learned over the past year, Phil and I are in a position now to start and take race wins, and who knows maybe even the championship.

"Phil loves Ferrari and we know it's not up there in the FIA GT3 Championship at the moment, but SRO have given it a performance break to close the gap to the front running cars. We are confident the car will be capable to take us where we want to go, which is to the top of the podium."
