Why was a "Porn" movie made at Columbia? Columbia Administration's Alleged Co-Operation in Filming of Bawdy Movie Criticized For Besmiriching Campus Image NEW YORK, NY -- September 25, 2002
Today, the Columbia College Conservative Club (CCCC) strongly criticized the Columbia University Administration's permisiveness in allowing Comedy Central Films to film their first feature, entitled "Porn 'n Chicken," on the Columbia campus.
The film, which focuses on the exploits of "Porn 'n Chicken," an underground Yale University pornograhy club, and features several stars of the adult entertainment industry, was filmed on the Morningside Heights campus of the Columbia University and at the affiliated Union Theological Seminary during the summer of 2002. According to media and eyewitness reports, the Columbia administration co-operated fully in the making of the film.
"I would not go so far as to criticize Comedy Central," said Nazar Khodorovsky, the Acting President of CCCC. "This is, after all, the network of 'South Park' and 'The Man Show.' Their operating creed must be: 'the more bleeps there are, the better it sells.'" The real blame, according to Mr. Khodorovsky, lies with the university administrators, who knowingly gave Comedy Central Films extensive use of campus space and buildings for the making of their motion picture.
"If Comedy Central wants to be in the business of besmirching the image of this university, there is not really much more for them to do. However, it is the resposibility of the administration to protect the university. I hope the administration was paid well for the reputation of Columbia," said Ron Lewenberg, the founder of CCCC.
"Porn 'n Chicken" is set to premiere on Comedy Central's cable channel on October 13, 2002. Comedy Central is a 50-50 joint venture of Viacom (NYSE: VIA) and Time Warner Home Entertainment Company (NYSE:AOL).
The Columbia College Conservative Club(http://www.columbia.edu/cu/conservative) was founded to promote the ideas of liberty and individual responsibility, which formed the basis of the United States and of our continued freedom and prosperity. For all too many years these ideas have been ignored or attacked on this campus. Our goal at CCCC is to provide the necessary ideological balance to Columbia and to end the 40 years of leftist decline at the university.
