USAEM Board Of Directors Reviews Empower

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 3, 2006 -– The United States Alliance of Emergency Medicine (USAEM) Board of Directors traveled to Chicago this week for an Institute of Medicine (IOM) workshop and to review the EmpowER System EDIS application. The group met at the Radisson Hotel for a demonstration of EmpowER, and then continued to a site visit at Michael Reese Hospital where they saw EmpowER live and interfaced, and interacted with the clinical front end users.

“As an ED physcian, software developer and regional director for Emcare, I was sincerely impressed that Dr. Seth Guterman and his team have developed an application that meets all the criteria I would lay out for exceptional software,” said Dr. Tripp Wingate of USAEM.

According to the USAEM website (http://www.usaem.org), from an administrative perspective EmpowER allows a powerful suite of "canned" and customizable reports that can track critical operational metrics in real-time, as well as quality indicators. From a risk management and regulatory compliance perspective, EmpowER is “exceptional.” The application prompts for reevaluations on clinically-indicated conditions, and provides order sets specific to high risk conditions and prompts to consider certain high risk chief complaints.

“I came here thinking the ECDS team would simply help us develop some core competencies,” said Dr. Sonny Saggar of USAEM. “I had no idea that EmpowER had such incredible features.”
