Red Engine Press and River Road Press Release Schedule for Branson, Missouri's Veterans Celebration Week

The 13th annual Branson Veterans Homecoming for 2006 will take place this weekend.

Farmington, MO (PRWEB) November 6, 2006 -- The 13th annual Veterans Homecoming for 2006 will take place from Saturday, November 4 until Sunday, November 12 and include a host of free events and special guests.

Sunday, November 5, Paul Holton, founder of Operation Give, a humanitarian organization which ships toys, medicine and educational supplies to children in war-torn and devastated nations, will speak on the Showboat Branson Belle. He will also appear at the River Road Press booth at Vendor Village, Mansion America and River Road Press booth at the POW Network Command Center on Sunday and Monday.

Vietnam Day will be Wednesday, November 8th and World War II/Korean War Day, Friday, November 10th. Both are from 10am until 5pm. Each will be a full day of programs, readings, music of the period, entertainment and book signings. Pat McGrath Avery, CEO of River Road Press and Red Engine Press organized the events in conjunction with Stormy Snow of America's Presidency Museum. The museum is located at 2849 Gretna Road at the corner of Roark Valley Road in Branson, Missouri.

Vietnam Day will feature Joyce Faulkner and Pat McGrath Avery who will perform "Role Call Vietnam." Tony Lazzarini's video, "Highest Traditions," will be shown. Radio, television and movie personality Tracy Sloat will open the program singing the Star-Spangled Banner to her moving video, "Still There."

Several well-known authors will be signing their books including: Helen White "Lipstick and a Smile," Ivan Pierce "An Infantry Lieutenant's Vietnam," Eddie Beesley 'Lucky Enough," Jack Lyndon Thomas "Coyote Jack: Drawing Meaning from Life and Vietnam – A Memoir," Jason Robertson, a rescued Vietnam orphan, "A Love Beyond Explaining." Julie Peters will be selling copies of her son's book, "Not on My Watch," at both booths.

Two authors will launch their books at Vietnam Day. Gary Doss will sign copies of his new book "Tales of an Ugly Angel." Doss will have his YL-37 Sikorsky with him. It will be at Highway 76 at Tri-Lake Helicopter.

Lloyd King will present his poetry collection, "From Nam with Love" which recently received the gold medal for poetry from the Military Writers Society of America.

At World War II/Korean War Day, Joyce Faulkner and Pat McGrath Avery will perform "Role Call World War II and Korea." Faulkner will sign copies of "In the Shadow of Suribachi" which received the 2006 gold medal for historical fiction from the Military Writers Society of America and Pat McGrath Avery will sign copies of "They Came Home: Korean War POWs Tell Their Stories." Special VIP guests will be Ed Slater and Sherman Jones, survivors of the Sunchon Tunnel Massacre who are the subjects of Ms. Avery's book. They will sign copies of the book with her. Ed Slater and Billy Templeton will sign "Ex-Prisoners of War: Stories of Faith, Integrity and Courage." As well as singing, Tracy Sloat will be at World War II/Korea Day. Eleanor Roosevelt with also make an appearance.    

World War II/Korean War Day will have two book launches. Special VIP guest author, Billy Templeton, a survivor of the Bataan Death March, will introduce his new book, Manila Bay Sunset: The Long March Into Hell." Author Ken Kreckel will present his new book entitled "The Rommel Mission."

Special guests Laura Daniels and Florence Kuhn, members of the Sharon Rogers Band, which toured the Far East as a USO troop in the closing days of the Pacific war, will also be there. They will be making a presentation at a reception for them at 10am on Friday.

Red Engine Press and River Road Press will have booths at two different locations during the week. One booth will be at the POW Network Command Center at Lodge of the Ozarks. The other will be at Vendor Village at Celebration City, which is sponsored by the Branson Veterans Taskforce. Authors will be available at both booths to sign their books. Each booth will have a schedule of events posted.
