Southern Illinois Author Ventures Into Mystery/Suspense Genre

Romance author Tammy L. Boulds announced the release of her third novel, Picking Up The Pieces, which was published by Whiskey Creek Press in September.

SOUTHERN, ILLINOIS (PRWEB) November 9, 2006 -- Romance author Tammy L. Boulds announced the release of her third novel, Picking Up The Pieces, which was published by Whiskey Creek Press in September.

This is Boulds' first venture into the Mystery/Suspense genre. Her earlier novels, Briana, and Along Came a Legend had a western theme.

"My first love is westerns, but I had this terrific idea that continued to run through my mind. Picking Up the Pieces revolves around a hot topic in the news today, not only in Illinois, but throughout the United States, that being the Organ Donor Program," stated Boulds. "After reading Picking Up The Pieces, it will make you think about what could happen when good programs are not run correctly."

The novel introduces friends Luke Collins, Jena Holmes and Dean Madison and the reality that Luke and Dean are both in love with Jena. When Jena accepts Dean's marriage proposal, Luke moves to Chicago.

Fate being a cruel player transforms Jena Madison's comfortable life into one of tragedy when her husband dies in a car accident. In time, she struggles to rebuild her life, but a mysterious letter implying her husband's death was not accidental sends her life spinning out of control once again. When the local police refuse to re-open the investigation, Jena contacts Luke, now a Chicago Police Department detective. At first hesitant to help her, Luke soon agrees to return home and locate the author of the anonymous letter. He believes the letter is a hoax until someone tries to kill Jena. With the assistance of Luke's partner, Bryan Armes, a new investigation begins. One by one, the details begin to surface. Luke discovers a modern day hitman may be involved, but he can't figure out the connection between Dean Madison and a known killer. Now Luke is faced with two problems, protecting both Jena and his heart as he falls more deeply in love with her.

According to Marilyn Heyman of Romance Reviews Today, Boulds' book is: "An engrossing suspense story that will keep readers glued to the pages, Picking Up The Pieces, is a book that you won't want to end. The tension-building mystery is a strong and satisfying story of two best friends who find love in the middle of terror and murder. Luke is a wonderful hero — a man you can count on, strong and kind. He willingly protects Jena with his life while he solves the mystery of Dean's death. Some clues are revealed so that readers will probably know what is happening long before Luke figures it out, but it doesn't distract from this romantic tale. Secondary characters compliment the story. Picking Up The Pieces is well-written, a hot love story, and a good mystery."

Tammy Boulds lives in Southern Illinois, along with her husband and son. When she is not writing, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family. While growing up, she shared a love of reading, watching westerns and telling stories.
