First-Time Author Freddi Zeiler's New Book, 'A Kid's Guide to Giving,' Named One of the Greatest Products of 2006 by iParenting Media Children's book teaches kids to be charitable with their pocket change. Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) November 8, 2006 -- innovativeKids (www.innovativekids.com), the award-winning publisher of Hands-On - Minds-On products for children, today announced that "A Kid's Guide to Giving," the new book by first time author Fredericka "Freddi" Zeiler, has been awarded an iParenting Media Award for "2006 Greatest Products." Freddi is delighted to see her book begin to reach thousands of kids all over the World. "A Kid's Guide to Giving" is a simple yet beautiful new book illuminating select charities and outlining how kids can get involved.
While in 7th grade, Freddi Zeiler realized her idyllic life in Topanga Canyon, CA was not quite "normal." Whilst watching the news, Freddi realized other kids around the world worked all day just so their families could buy food and survive. She discovered sick and suffering people without the resources to buy medicine and that pollution threatened the global environment and destroyed wild animals' homes.
With these issues in mind, and determined to make a difference, Freddi began saving her spare change and thoroughly researched charities that she could contribute to. The result is the startlingly original new book "A Kid's Guide to Giving," in which Freddi shares her knowledge of philanthropy with all kids. The spiral-bound book presents itself as a guide and notebook for children to save and donate to worthy causes and features profiles of over 100 charities personally selected by Freddi.
"At age 14, how many young girls set out to change the world?" asked Shari Kaufman, president and publisher at innovativeKids, "Freddi Zeiler sure did! Her thought-provoking new book 'A Kid's Guide to Giving' teaches our children the value of service and selflessness."
"A Kid's Guide to Giving" is written from a kid's point of view and makes it very approachable for kids to get started. The charities are grouped into 3 categories especially of interest for kids - people, animals and the environment. Kids read about each charity's mission, how to donate and how their donations will be spent.
"There are approximately 75 million people under the age of 18 in America," said Freddi Zeiler, "What if every one of them gave just 25 cents to a cause? What if every one of them donated just one hour of their lives doing volunteer work? Put all that time and money together and you really can change the world!"
Norman Goldstein, Founder and CEO of By Kids For Kids Co. (www.bkfk.com), who represents Freddi Zeiler, commented: "Freddi is an extraordinary young woman, and the heart of 'A Kid's Guide to Giving' really shines through. In these trying times, books like 'A Kid's Guide to Giving' make for meaningful and uplifting holiday gifts."
"It's the perfect gift," agrees Connecticut mother Jennifer Clement. "There's even a pocket inside the front cover where you can include a note or a check to get kids started. It's such a great way to encourage kids to be charitable - a gift that keeps on giving!"
