Weymouth Design Wins MITX Award for First Act Guitar Builder

Flash application recognized as Best Rich Media Application of 2006.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) November 10, 2006 -- Weymouth Design’s work on the First Act (Boston, MA) interactive Guitar Builder won the 2006 MITX Award in the Rich Media Application category. The annual MITX Awards is the largest awards competition in the country that recognizes achievements in the development and implementation of interactive technologies.

The Guitar Builder is an interactive Flash application that guides the user through the multi-step process of designing their custom dream guitar. The Guitar Builder is featured on a kiosk in First Act’s Boston store, and on the guitar producer’s website, newly redesigned by Weymouth Design. All pricing and part information is dynamically populated through external XML files, providing flexibility and control for updates.

“This year’s award submissions showed the most impressive elevation of ambition in quality, functionality, creative and technological achievements we’ve seen to date,” said Kiki Mills, executive director of MITX. “These awards provide a forum to showcase the finalists and winners, and acknowledge the sophisticated work that is being created locally for nationally and internationally recognized brands.”

“Our artists and developers, most of whom are musicians, really enjoyed working on this assignment with the innovative marketers and musicians at First Act. Their passion and talent shows; the application is fluid and smooth and so intuitive. It’s great to see it recognized by MITX,” said Tom Anderson, President and CEO of Weymouth Design.

Josh Roy, Creative Manager of First Act, noted: “We recently had a call from rock musicians on tour in California who told us they had just spent two hours on our website building custom guitars on Guitar Builder! It’s a great application, from a creative and a business perspective, and positions our brand well.”
