Publisher Now Promises $100 for Urban Fiction Short Stories

BVP pays $100 to showcase Urban Fiction authors.

(PRWEB) November 14, 2006 -- Bronx Village Publishers is paying one hundred dollars for short stories in the urban fiction genre. "The market place is crowded, so we've come up with a new concept to gain exposure for the writers of urban fiction," says publisher Abdul Malik.

The plan is to help authors, new and established, develop a fan base. The authors will be able to get paid, and the readers will be able to see what the writers are working with. It's a win-win situation for all concerned. To sweeten the pot, Bronx Village will not acquire any traditional printing rights to the accepted stories. In other words, if the author chooses to put his story in anthology later he is free to do so.

"My family and friends say I'm crazy," Abdul says. "A lot of people don't understand why I'm paying money to help others, but there is a meaning to my madness." Bronx Village Publishers hopes to bring in new readers to the genre. The way Abdul puts it, there are 300 million people in the U.S., the majority of them have never read urban fiction. If Bronx Village Publishers can expose some of them to it in small doses, maybe some of them will get hooked.

Bronx Village Publishers hopes to have the new website up by mid December of 2006.
