New Petition Helps Make Parenting a National Priority

The parenting petition is part of The National Effective Parenting Initiative (NEPI) and can be found on the NEPI Web site, www.effectiveparentingusa.org.

(PRWEB) November 15, 2006 -- Parents, teachers, heads of corporations and even the President of the United States are being urged to make effective parenting a national priority by signing a petition affirming the importance of advocating, celebrating and promoting effective parenting and parenting education.

The parenting petition is part of The National Effective Parenting Initiative (NEPI) and can be found on the NEPI Web site, www.effectiveparentingusa.org. It is one of several things parents and others can do to help reduce child abuse, drug use and school violence.

Kerby T. Alvy, Ph.D., founder and executive director of the Center for The Improvement of Child Caring in Studio City, Calif. came up with the idea for the initiative and petition.

According to Alvy, "The National Effective Parenting Initiative (NEPI) is about working toward the goal of every child in our country becoming effectively and humanely raised by parents who have received the best possible parenting education."

"Achieving this goal begins with each and every parent committing themselves to being the best parent they can be and to seeking out and receiving the best possible parenting education."

Alvy and the other founding members of NEPI hope to have at least 100,000 signatures by the end of the year. These will then be presented to the president, congress and other local officials to encourage them to take the necessary steps that are needed to make effective parenting and parenting education national, state and local priorities.

To sign the petition, go to www.ipetitions.com/petition/effectiveparentingusa/index.html.
