More than 200 HR managers, directors, and executives from 14 different countries in the CEE region participated in the event. Among the global companies represented were IBM, Coca Cola, Hewitt Associates, GlaxoSmithKline, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Oracle, Microsoft, SAP, Ernst & Young, GE, and Tesco. Regional leaders such as MOL, Pliva, Bank BPH, and Telecoms from Slovakia and Poland also attended.

The Summit focused on three key topics (http://www.humancapitalinstitute.org/hci/track_communities_overview.guid): talent management, performance management, and strategic HR. The three-day event included presentations, as well as CEE case studies.

Among the many program highlights was the keynote address delivered by Paul Evans, the Shell Chaired Professor of Human Resources and Organisational Development at INSEAD and author of the high acclaimed book "The Global Challenge." Evans' presentation explored issues of workforce engagement and change management and included examples of how more inclusive leadership has turned around companies stuck in familiar command and control disciplines.

Other presentations included an introduction to IBM's new career portal, which is based on three principles of globalization: economics, expertise, and openness. Recognizing that the ideal candidate for an open position is likely to already be a member of its vast organization, the portal is designed to tap into the open internal talent market.

As co-chair of the conference, I had the opportunity to witness energy and initiative first hand," said David Forman.
