Massapequa Park, NY (PRWeb) November 17, 2006 -- The Luke Neuhedel Foundation is holding its 4th Annual "ADOPT A CHILD WITH CANCER FOR THE HOLIDAYS" Program. Children currently being treated for cancer have listed their holiday wishes, along with those of their siblings, at www.lukefund.org. Volunteers can donate for one child or a whole family, just follow the directions on the website. This program has been extremely successful, helping hundreds of children receive their wish from a special "Santa."

In addition to the specific wishes listed on LNF's website, other children fighting cancer and their families can use any of the following to help them have a happy holiday: gift cards to supermarkets, gas, restaurants including fast food such as McDonalds, VISA/MC gift cards to complete their holiday shopping. The families of these children spend over 55% of their annual income fighting their child's disease, leaving little room for holiday gifts. Please give them a helping hand.

Those who wish to help may also want to participate in our current ELMO SUPER PRIZE RAFFLE. The Luke Neuhedel Foundation is holding a raffle for a TMX Elmo Super Package, which includes a new TMX Elmo, a new Barbie Loves TMX Elmo, and an autographed picture of Elmo signed by his best friend Kevin Clash. Chances are 2 for $5.00 or 5 for $10.00. There is no limit on the number of chances you may purchase. You can send a check to LNF at PO Box 137, Massapequa Park, NY 11762. To use a credit card call LNF at 516-882-9183. The drawing will be held 12-10-06. All funds raised by the raffle will help children fighting cancer at institutions across the US.

LNF works with social workers at pediatric oncology institutions across the US to reach children undergoing cancer treatments. All of the children in our programs have been nominated for assistance by their social worker. Feel free to call LNF with any questions at 516-882-9183.

Cancer is the #1 disease killer of children in the US, killing more children each year than AIDS, cystic fibrosis, congenital anomalies, and diabetes combined. The occurrence of cancer in children is increasing annually, particularly in teens. LNF works to raise awareness of this disease, as well as raise funds to provide aid and support to children and their families in the front lines.

The Luke Neuhedel Foundation is a 501c3 charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with cancer through grants and family fun events. LNF was established in 2002 in memory of Luke Neuhedel, who died of hepatoblastoma at age 3. LNF is staffed entirely by volunteers, thus all donations go to those who need it most --- the kids and their families. Find out more at www.lukefund.org, 516-882-9183, or write LNF at PO Box 137, Massapequa Park NY 11762.
