ScientificAmerican.com Unveils "Sci-Doku"

New weekly Su-Duko based logic placement puzzle debuts on its Science News Web site on November 21st.

New York, NY (PRWeb) November 21, 2006 -- Beginning today at sciam.com, Scientific American's science news (http://sciam.com/news_directory.cfm) web site, a "SCI-DOKU" puzzle will be posted weekly for Su-doku enthusiasts to enjoy and solve a science challenge. SCI-DOKU was created like Su-doku with an added twist; it uses letters instead of numbers. A science clue will headline each SCI-DOKU puzzle and engage Su-doku fans of all ages to decipher the weekly riddle.

To solve the SCI-DOKU puzzle (www.sciam.com/scidoku), you will need to use just 9 different letters to fill the standard 9x9 grid. Each letter must appear only once in each row, once in each column and once in every 3x3 square. A SCI-DOKU puzzle will have each of the 9 letters already entered into the formation. You will not be able to alter the numbers provided in the grid. You have to work around them. When the grid has been filled, the letters on one of the lines, reading across or down, will spell out the answer to the clue. Every SCI-DOKU challenge will only have one correct solution.

Every SCI-DOKU puzzle posted will vary in level of difficulty and range from beginner, intermediate and advanced to challenge the sciam.com science enthusiast audience.
