The Provenio Group today urged parents and administrators through an open letter to take heed of the growing number of teachers who are leaving the profession early because of poor student behavior.

In an open letter to the teaching community, Jay Burcham, Provenio Group co-founder, cited numbers by the Alliance for Excellent Education that show the United States spending up to $2.2 billion dollars to replace teachers, many of whom have cited student behavior as a main reason for leaving.

"I think teachers are trying to teach us something as they walk out the door," said Burcham. "They want the time and resources to prepare their students for life. Yes, competing and success within the global economy is important, but so is self esteem and friendship. Teachers are leaving because the opportunity to truly educate is no longer valued."
