Adventurous Lives is 261 pages long and consists of 23 short stories divided into four parts. Part one (six stories long) is about the adventures of a captain of a coast guard cutter.

Part two (eight stories long) deal with the shared adventures of the citizens of Kennedy Key. A fictional island town on Florida's west coast. Part Three (four stories long) is about the mostly self-inflicted adventures of the members of Omicron Chi. A fictitious college fraternity on the campus of Bethune-Cookman College. A real-life college located in Daytona Beach, Florida. Lastly, part four (five stories long) are fictional stories based on actual events.

Taken in all, the stories revolve around the central theme of this book. The fact that every life, no matter how mundane, is an adventurous one. About the author: Mitchell Arthur Wiley was born in Springfield, Ohio on July 21, 1963 and first started writing creatively as a 13 year-old schoolboy back in the fall of 1976. (He lived in Waynesville, Ohio at the time.) His first published work was a dedication to a deceased teacher which appeared in the school yearbook back in 1981. (The same year he graduated.) Mr. Wiley, who is unmarried, now resides in North Fort Myers, Florida where he has lived since January of 1991. This is his first published book.
