(PRWeb) November 27, 2006 -- The number of children worrying about elderly parents is growing steadily as the average age of the population increases. Sources of guidance and advice aren't easy to find so some enterprising offspring have started a free internet forum at www.myoldfolks.com to share tips, problems, advice and sources of help.
One of the founders Pete Bennett says, "My folks are still well able to take care of themselves but I have a lot of friends whose parents are beginning to struggle and they themselves are having difficulty in knowing how to help. This is a simple attempt to use the power of the internet to help by pooling knowledge and experiences. I hope people will bring both problems and ideas for solutions to other peoples' problems. If you bring both these things you are part of a community."
The forum is now open and completely free of charge. If you would like to remain anonymous you can sign up using "nom de plume". Areas covered include parents still in their own homes, parents living with their children and parents in residential homes.
Notes for Editors Myoldfolks.com is a personal project, aimed at providing mutual support and advice to the many people who struggle with how best to deal with issues around their aging parents.
