Photographers are Shown How to Protect Their Lenses from Dust, Scratches, Fingerprints

In new article posted by AIRC, optics expert Bob Atkins explains the right and wrong ways to clean lenses and filters; a guide to cleaning products is included.

New York, NY (PRWeb) November 30, 2006 -- In its ongoing efforts to educate photographers and help them improve their skills, Adorama has just published "Clean it up! How to keep your lenses and filters smudge- and scratch-free (http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=academy&article=112706&refby=press_lensclean)." The article is the latest in an ongoing series, published on the AIRC -- Adorama Imaging Resource Center, by renowned optics expert Bob Atkins that focuses on the inner workings of digital cameras and lenses.

"A lens or filter with smudges, fingerprints or dust all over it can ruin your photos," notes AIRC editor Mason Resnick. "But if you use the wrong material or technique to clean it, you can destroy your precious lens. Bob Atkins' advice will help you keep your optics in pristine condition."

In addition to describing the most effective way to clean your lenses and protect them from scratching, Atkins recommends specific products, from microfiber cloths to blowers, that should be in any photographer's gadget bag.

Bob Atkins, who has served as an optical engineer for Bell Labs and has been contributing to online understanding of photography since the mid-90s, joined Adorama as a contributing author this past summer. You can see more of his writing, as well as articles by a world-class team of photography experts, at the AIRC (http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=academy&refby=press_lensclean).
