The Last Cry In Havana

"An untold story of violation, humiliation and a struggle for freedom as recounted by 10 brave women incarcerated for their political beliefs."

New York City, NY (PRWeb) November 30, 2006 -- The Last Cry in Havana is a documentary that vividly describes the cruelty of the prisons in Cuba. This documentary illustrates the naked truth behind Fidel Castro's regime. His dictatorship, for years, has violated, humiliated and robbed the freedom of hundreds of Cuban women. Women who were banished because of their political beliefs.

The Last Cry in Havana is a documentary produced and directed by Mapi Montero. This 90-minute documentary transports you to the oppressed Cuba of the sixties through the experience of ten women. These women - Ana Lazara, Gloria Lasales, Emelina Nunez, America Quezada, Mercedes Luisa Pena Guerrero, Olga Maria Rodriguez Fernandez, Nidia Rosa Armada, Clara Berta Canton Gomez, and Maria Marquez, were once young and vibrant women who gave their lives to see a free Cuba.

Incarcerated for 18 years in decrepit infectious prisons, the women cried in silence realizing that their struggles and suffering have all been in vain. Little did they know that their suffering would become part of the history of Cuba and a living tale of its humanity.

Screenings in Miami set for December 15th and in New York December 17th. For further information please contact Sofia Alayon via e-mail.
