New Las Vegas Waterpark Resort Gains Interest of Tarkanian Basketball Academy - School Eyes Move to Las Vegas WET Waterpark Arena

The Tarkanian Basketball Academy is planning to move its operations into the arena at the new Las Vegas WET waterpark resort when the facility is completed. The Tarkanian Basketball Academy is a non-profit organization that provided opportunities young people to develop leadership skills, work ethic, commitment, honesty and integrity through sport.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWeb) December 13, 2006 -- Tarkanian Basketball Academy is close to an agreement to relocate from its present location in Las Vegas (next to the Palace Station) to the new arena being built at the family waterpark resort being developed by Las Vegas WET, LLC (http://www.lasvegaswet.com). The Academy's current lease runs out in 2008, and the developers of the Las Vegas WET project recently approached Danny and George Tarkanian to discuss relocating to the waterpark's planned arena facility. "The Tarkanian family is a legend in Las Vegas, and we saw a great opportunity to build them a new, state-of-the-art home at our development," said Steven Dooner, Las Vegas WET's CEO.

The new arena will feature not only a 5,000 seat multiple purpose arena and event center, but will also house basketball and volleyball practice courts in its basement. In addition, a sports bar and grill, tentatively named "Tark's Shark Tank" will overlook the arena floor. "I'm hoping that we can get Coach Tarkanian to come hang out at the new facility," Dooner commented, referring to former UNLV (http://www.unlv.edu/main/athletics.html) basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian (http://www.tarkbball.com/history.asp).

On top of basketball and volleyball, the new arena is considering housing soccer, baseball, and tennis academies as well. Mr. Dooner has asked Danny Tarkanian (http://www.tarkbball.com/history.asp) to help coordinate bringing in operators for these academies

The Tarkanian Basketball Academy (http://www.tarkbball.com)is a non-profit organization that provided opportunities young people to develop leadership skills, work ethic, commitment, honesty and integrity through sport. The Tarkanians believe that sport teaches life lessons that can help people of all ages with success on and off the court. The Academy is currently located just south of the Palace Station at 2730 South Rancho Road in Las Vegas.

Dooner said that the project will be seeking a corporate sponsor for the arena which will not only house the aforementioned academies, but also sporting events, concerts, and trade shows.
