Boulder, CO (PRWEB) January 21, 2011 Adventure Fit has officially released the 2011 lineup for the New Belgium Urban Assault Ride Series. The pedal-powered urban adventure will hit the streets of 10 cities nationwide, first setting tracks in Tucson on Sunday, March 20th. Now in its 9th season, The Urban Assault Ride continues to be the nation’s biggest bike scavenger hunt series. Its popularity is due to the fun, unique format where teams of two pedal to checkpoints all over town. At each stop, riders take on funky (and always changing) obstacle courses which have included power-sliding big wheels, sliding down a 30’ water slide, limboing mini bikes, and mastering the ‘Keg Walk’. “Choosing Your Own Adventure” is also a key part of the concept, as teams plan their own routes to the checkpoints. Once teams complete the course, they cross the finish line, entering a huge after party with New Belgium brews and prize contests such as the ‘mustache dance-off.’ “Our main goal is to create the best possible day on the bike,” said event founder, Josh Kravetz. “However, the UAR has had deeper and longer-lasting impact in the markets where we’ve held our events. Since riders have to plan their own course around town, they end up teaching themselves safe riding routes.” The majority of UAR participants end up using their bikes more for transportation following their experience. Adventure Fit takes this healthy and eco-friendly impact even further by benefiting local bike-advocacy non-profits and shooting for a zero-waste events. 2010 Urban Assault Rides diverted 95% of their waste form landfills and donated revenues to 19 different non-profits..This is one of the main reasons that New Belgium Brewing continues to be the Urban Assault Ride’s title sponsor. "We’re extremely excited to once again play a role in the Urban Assault Rides across the country,” says Mike Keller, National Sponsorships Manager for New Belgium Brewing. “This series mirrors New Belgium’s core values through its focus on sustainability, community and whimsical approach to bike advocacy.”
For the 2011 season, riders can expect all new obstacles and after party contests designed to challenge every level of cyclist. The UAR is open to anybody seven years old and up. Team divisions include coed, male, female and family. Prizes are awards to the top three teams in each division and anybody with a bib number has a chance to ride home on a 2011 New Belgium Cruiser bike. Each event is capped at 1500 riders and multiple sellouts are expected in 2011 Registration is open for the 2011 season at http://www.urbanassaultride.com 2011 Urban Assault Ride Dates & Locations
