Blubrry Featured in Nokia Phone Podcasting Menu

The Blubrry podcasting community is featured in Nokia's podcasting directory available on millions of Nokia phones worldwide. The two companies completed the arrangement at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this month.

(PRWeb) February 1, 2007 -- Representatives of RawVoice, Inc. announced this week that their Blubrry podcasting community is featured in Nokia's podcasting application, which is available for most new Nokia handsets. The Nokia application allows listeners to browse, search and subscribe to podcasts in the Blubrry community.

Representatives of RawVoice, Inc., and Nokia cemented the arrangement at the 40th Annual Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month in Las Vegas. "Even as they are leading the cellular handset marketplace, Nokia has been thinking about podcast listeners, and that's why we wanted to be a part of this," said Todd Cochrane, CEO of RawVoice and host of the Geek News Central podcast.

Speaking at CES, Nokia President and CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo explained why Nokia is an ideal partner for podcasting communities. "More than 850 million people have a Nokia mobile phone in their hands, Kallasvuo said. "No other consumer electronics company in the world has ever had such a customer base." Nokia sold almost 70 million music-enabled devices, making Nokia the world's largest manufacturer of music devices.

The Blubrry community is home to over 500 audio podcasts and about 300 video podcasts on topics ranging from international politics to grammar lessons. The community is free to join, and the site provides unique search and networking tools to help listeners find new, interesting podcasts.

Listeners with Nokia 3rd Generation Series 60 handsets can download the podcasting application from the Nokia website and install it on their handset no matter their cellular service provider. The application plays audio and video podcasts, and can be set to automatically download new episodes of podcasts. Due to the size of some podcast files, listeners are advised to review their data plan with their carrier.
