PLC Practitioners Network on New Interactive Web Site

Educators implementing school improvement strategies take collaboration to new level.

Bloomington, IN (PRWeb) February 1, 2007 -- A new Web site, www.allthingsplc.info, launched on January 9, 2007, opening up a unique forum for educators interested in building professional learning communities (PLCs) in their schools or districts. With the slogan "all information, no commerce," www.allthingsplc.info offers PLC practitioners an interactive environment free of profit-driven pitches or ads.

Professional learning communities encompass best-practice strategies for school reform that focus on collaborative efforts to ensure all students learn. At www.allthingsplc.info, educators will discover a global network that facilitates idea-sharing for successful, sustainable PLCs.

Site visitors may share solutions to daunting challenges or swap moments of celebration on a blog, browse articles and conduct research, and access downloadable resources. A PLC locator helps educators find schools implementing improvement initiatives similar to their own.

Richard DuFour, Robert Eaker and Rebecca DuFour, the practitioners whose work has been so crucial to the PLC movement, contribute regularly to www.allthingsplc.info, as do other PLC experts.

The PLC model has proven successful in schools throughout the United States and Canada. In the Blue Valley School District in Overland Park, Kansas, student achievement continues to soar after the transformation of all 31 schools into PLCs. Diagnostic Measures of Academic Progress tests reveal that every grade level throughout the district has surpassed anticipated growth in both reading and mathematics. In 2006, every Blue Valley school met Adequate Yearly Progress standards.

Solution Tree, the educational publishing and services company hosting www.allthingsplc.info, is a premiere provider of PLC books, videos and professional development. However, the Web site does not mention the company's name, which is exactly the intention of Solution Tree President Jeffrey C. Jones. "We offer many PLC resources, but we know we're not the sole providers," Jones says. "Our intention for this Web site is to provide an open door to a continuous exchange of ideas, without a commercial presence."
