Washington DC Bigwigs to Speak at EIC'S PRISM Awards Capitol Hill Showcase

TV Host Melissa Rivers is stepping off the red carpet to join Brian Dyak, president of Entertainment Industries Council, Inc., to barrage Capitol Hill with a unique touch of Hollywood's Awards Season by letting Congressional Members know that film, music and television are powerful allies when it comes to getting the public to know more about the dangers of substance abuse, the power of treatment and hope of recovery. This will take place at the PRISM Awards Capitol Hill Showcase Wednesday, February 7, 6:00p.m. - 8:00p.m.

Washington, DC (Billboard Publicity Wire) February 5, 2007 -- Melissa Rivers is stepping off the red carpet to join Brian Dyak, president of Entertainment Industries Council, Inc., to barrage Capitol Hill with a unique touch of Hollywood's Awards Season by letting Congressional Members know that film, music and television are powerful allies when it comes to getting the public to know more about the dangers of substance abuse, the power of treatment and hope of recovery. This will take place at the PRISM Awards Capitol Hill Showcase on Wednesday, February 7, 6:00p.m. - 8:00p.m., in the Russell Senate Office Building, Caucus RM SR -325, Washington D.C.

Congresswoman Diane Watson (Chair Congressional Entertainment Industry Caucus, and Congresswoman Grace Napolitano ( Chair Congressional Mental Health Caucus and the Hispanic Caucus) will join David Rehr, president of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) to shine a spotlight on the good works of the entertainment industry. Senator Orrin Hatch is the sponsoring senator with a compliment of co-chairs from both sides of the aisle.

Dyak said, "It's time for our industry to take credit for the good works we do and facedown critics who want to sterilize content…all the broadcast networks and cable are playing a valuable role in helping people understand the complexities of these human issues."

Terry Cline, Ph.D., Administrator of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and Dr. William Dewey, College on Problems of Drug Dependency Virginia Commonwealth University, Chair, Friends of National Institute on Drug Abuse

The Capitol Hill Showcase is supported by a bi-partisan Congressional Host Committee of the House and Senate. The 10th Annual PRISM Awards,will air soon as a one-hour special on the FX Network.
