The JW Marriott Hotel Buckhead Atlanta announces Mike Giamundo as its new General Manager.

With 29 years of industry experience, Giamundo brings an expertise cultivated from various hospitality positions and extracurricular local industry involvement. He plans to contribute to the revenue generation, operations, and sales and marketing initiatives at the hotel in Atlanta, GA.

In his last position as General Manager of the JW Marriott New Orleans Giamundo saw significant achievement and honor in the devastation and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He was recognized by Marriott International for leadership and the successful evacuation of the Atlanta luxury hotel's staff and guests, totaling over 1,000 people. His leadership earned two awards - the "Excellence in Hotel Opening Award" in 2003, and the "Mustang Award for Special Recognition" in 2003 & 2005.

Giamundo also successfully led the hotel back into the Crescent City during its grand reopening in October 2005.

Mr. Giamundo is an active member of the hospitality business community, including the Board of Directors for the Hotel Lodging Association. He has served on the General Manager Advisory Board for the New Orleans Convention and Visitor Bureau, and as President-elect of the Hotel Lodging Association in 2006.
