NetBlender Releases DoStudio to HD DVD and Blu-ray Developers New Advanced Content Authoring Tool Reduces Development Time for Next-Generation Interactivity by up to 50% Alexandria, VA (PRWeb) February 20, 2007 -- NetBlender released DoStudio to its global audience of next generation DVD developers this past weekend. DoStudio (DVD One Studio) is the latest component added to DVD One™, NetBlender's first-of-kind solution for creating advanced content for HD DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and DVDs. DVD One allows DVD developers to produce highly interactive applications for all three DVD formats from a single authoring environment.
With the addition of DoStudio to the toolset, the next generation DVD community finally has a long-awaited visual tool to increase efficiency and maximize code compatibility in the advanced content development process.
"Our beta group reported that their development time was generally cut in half," said John Harrington, NetBlender CEO. "Creating an animated menu layout through percentages and pixel counts takes a long time but that is how the development community has been doing it since the new formats launched. DVD Developers are accustomed to the efficiency of drag and drop layout and DoStudio offers that."
DoStudio's interface includes a visual layout editor that allows developers to arrange graphic elements with drag and drop ease, a keyfame animation editor, automatic remote control button assignment, an image list manager and code assist, so developers don't need to memorize an entire API.
"Simple tasks such as dynamic text and disc event handling should be implemented within minutes instead of hours," said Denny Breitenfeld, NetBlender CTO. "Everyday I find authors in the Microsoft HD DVD Interactivity Authoring Forum and production companies struggling with the best implementation of these simple tasks. With DVD One and DoStudio we make sure that all these simple tasks are implemented within minutes, so our users can focus on more creative challenges and not worry about specification details."
Increased efficiency translates into reduced development costs. And DoStudio is built on a proven architecture that prevents memory leaks, unhandled exceptions and other software challenges that are increasingly costing DVD developers time and money as they try to troubleshoot problems that are new to the DVD development process.
As part of the product launch, NetBlender is hosting two one-hour "Learn DoStudio" training sessions on March 1. Participation in the training webinars is open to developers who purchase a DoStudio license by February 27, 2007.
DoStudio is available for download through the DVD One Community Network website (http://www.dvd1one.net). A DoStudio license costs $99/month.
Features of DoStudio include: adding picture-in-picture of streaming video over the primary DVD video stream for live commentary, creating translucent pop-up menus that can be navigated without interruption of video playback, adding web connectivity to DVD, HD DVD, and Blu-ray titles, and more. And DVD One can apply the same interactive features to standard DVDs through NetBlender's Blended DVD solution.
Featuring a graphical user interface that handles many development tasks visually, DoStudio frees the developer from hand-writing hundreds of lines of code. And when code-tweaking is required, the developer uses an easy-to-learn adaptation of XML called DoML, or DVD One Markup Language. When the Advanced Content is ready for viewing, the DVD One compiler writes the final code in any next generation format. The compiler currently supports HDi and netBlender for DVD-Rom. BD-J support will be released later in 2007.
