FilmTies.com Teams Up with High Schools, Colleges for First Creative Showcase Contests

Contest will help students gain national recognition, build resumes and learn appropriate processes for creating films.

New York, NY (PRWeb) February 21, 2007 -- FilmTies.com, the world's first online interactive membership based, social networking community that provides funding for film projects, today announced applications are open for the first college and high school Get the Arts Going creative showcases.

Through these contests, both high schools and colleges will compete with students across the nation to create the best film. Each participating school will have the ability to create a 15 minute short film, students will be involved in all aspects of the filming process- this includes everything from the actual writing of the script to producing and FilmTies will be there to assist them, step-by-step, through the entire process.

Each film will be available for download through Video-on-Demand. Participating schools will be able to download the videos for free, but other members will download the movies for a small fee. A portion of the proceeds will go back to the schools. On top of those benefits, each school will receive a percentage of local advertising revenue generated through the FilmTies.com Patent Pending Film Financing model and the Creative Showcase program.

There will also be several prizes awarded for each contest. For both the high school and college contests, the individual musician and artist with top votes will win cash prizes and the college and high school with top music votes and the college and high school with the top art votes will win art and music supplies. Finally the national high school and college winners of the film contest will receive $10000 in film equipment, a party complete with "celebrities" and a chance to make a Stepping Stone Film through FilmTies.com.

"The film industry is competitive enough as it is, and breaking into the industry is often difficult," said John DeTitta, founder of FilmTies.com. "Through these contests, we hope to build students' resumes, so that, in-turn, it will give them the necessary edge needed to break into the world of filmmaking."
