Free Guitar Chord & Scale Library Debuts

Fretlight Lesson Players users now get over 2,000 chords & scales.

Reno, NV (PRWeb) March 13, 2007 -- Optek Music Systems, Inc., a leading company dedicated to the development of interactive musical instruments, today announced they have taken their Fretlight Lesson Player to the next level. The company has released an upgrade to the first version, integrating over 2,000 chords and scales. Version two of the Lesson Player replaces Jana Software’s Guitar Power software as the primary chord and scale program for the Fretlight guitar, the world’s first real computer-powered teaching guitar.

The new version is available as a free download to customers and other guitar players and is ideal for all levels of players. The Chord section contains a wide variety of Chord forms, including essential beginner Chord types such as open position Major, Minor, 7th, Major 7th, Minor 7th, Suspended 2nd, and Suspended 4th Chords, along with many moveable Barre chord forms and voicings for the intermediate level player. The Scale section includes the most common Scale types, such as Major, Minor and Pentatonic, can be displayed using five different forms or “Boxes” and can be shown in any Key.

“We found it was frustrating for players to have to toggle back and forth between two different programs,” said Rusty Shaffer, President & CEO of Optek Music Systems, Inc. “This enhancement expands on our mission to make guitar learning quicker and easier.”

The Fretlight Lesson Player software works in conjunction with Optek’s Fretlight guitars, and in addition to the chord and scale library, includes Beginner Pak one with additional lesson pak’s available for purchase on Optek’s on-line store, www.fretlightstore.com. The software uses tools which appeal to a variety of learning styles by including pictures, audio instructions and play along MIDI tracks. Upon completion, students can test their knowledge before moving on to the next lesson.

The FG-400 Series Fretlight Guitar enables beginner, intermediate, and advanced guitarists to learn chords, scales, and songs from a series of LED lights embedded in the guitar’s fretboard, which signify where the user’s fingers should be placed. Connected via the USB port of a standard Windows PC and driven by a selection of educational software titles such as Improviser, the Fretlight guitar allows users to learn, memorize, and play a wide variety of rhythm and lead guitar styles. With the ability to learn and create guitar music at the user’s individual pace, the Fretlight interactive system is designed to help players at every level.

The company will be releasing an additional chord and scale pak for a fee later in the year. Fretlight Lesson Player is immediately for download at www.fretlight.com and ships free with every new Fretlight guitar purchase.
