Sylmark Cracks Down on Counterfeit and Imitation Walkfit® Orthotics

As part of an aggressive effort to protect its intellectual property rights in its WalkFit® orthotics, Sylmark Holdings Limited has successfully pursued and halted, on a worldwide scale, unauthorized sales of counterfeit and imitation versions of its products.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWeb) April 5, 2007 -- As part of an aggressive effort to protect its intellectual property rights in its WalkFit® orthotics, Sylmark Holdings Limited has successfully pursued and halted, on a worldwide scale, unauthorized sales of counterfeit and imitation versions of its products.

WalkFit® orthotics are products that restore natural foot function and eliminate posture problems and foot and leg pain. WalkFit® has proved to be extremely successful and popular, and, as a result, has attracted the attention of counterfeiters and imitators.

Sylmark prevailed in its actions against the following companies in connection with the sales of counterfeit or imitation goods:

1. Against the individual and the company behind Van Hintum Amazing Products, Sylmark obtained a court order restraining the sale of alleged counterfeit goods and imposing a fine of €5,000 for each day of non-compliance. Case Number of Interim Proceedings: 145997/KG ZA 06-514, Civil-Law Section of the Court, 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.

2. Against several e-commerce websites, including wonderfulbuys.com and youcansave.com, Sylmark obtained a stipulated injunction restraining the websites from allegedly selling, offering to sell, advertising, marketing, promoting, manufacturing, distributing, or otherwise commercially exploiting WalkFit® orthotics under any name. Case Number EDCV 06-00982-SGL in U.S. District Court, Central District of California, Eastern Division.

3. Against Tee Vee Brands International Limited, Sylmark obtained a court order to allow a search of premises (Intended Action No.20 of 2007, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Court of First Instance).

Sylmark plans further aggressive actions and court proceedings against other traders dealing in counterfeit or imitation WalkFit® orthotics.
